The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han...

Series: Summer (Book #1)
Published: May 5th 2009 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Pages: 276
Rating: 5 stars
Age Recommendation: -

Synopsis:

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer--they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Review:

I had such high expectations for this book after reading such great things about it and I am so happy to say that it lived up to my expectations and manybe even exceeded them. I couldn't put this book down, and thats a really bad thing when you're meant to be studying.

The plot. I thought that the plot of this book was great I loved the idea of both the families going to the same place every year, having their traditions and I really loved the flashbacks in the book to all the previous summers I found that it really enhanced the story and I got to learn a little bit more about what was going on.

The characters. I loved all the characters, but the two that stood out for me were Belly and Jeremiah I thought that they were the most relateable characters for me. The one character I found that I didn't really care for was Cam I found myself being pretty bored with his character. But overall I thought that the characters were great and they were all written really well.

Overall I thought that this book was great and it really does get you in the mood for summer and the ending of this book was so good that after I finish writting this I am going to have to start reading the next one because I have to know what happens! I can tell that this is going to be a series that I am going to be re-reading every summer for a long time.
