Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn’t think she’s the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She’s also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her “the Duff,” she throws her Coke in his face.

But things aren’t so great at home right now, and Bianca is desperate for a distraction. She ends up kissing Wesley. Worse, she likes it. Eager for escape, Bianca throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with him.
Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out Wesley isn’t such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she’s falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

Review:

I had somewhat high expectations going into this book after seeing all the hype around this book when it first came out and then seeing all the rave reviews that it got on Goodreads. But this book was definitely not what I was expecting at all, it completely blew me away.

The plot. I loved the plot of this book! When I first started reading this book I was expecting it to be just a light hearted fun read, but as I read further I found it to be a book filled with emotion and I found it to be very thought provoking. I loved seeing how Bianca and Wesley's relationship developed throughout the course of the book and seeing just how much Bianca's feelings changed by the end of this book. I thought that the book was set at a great pace and everything happened in a realistic way and I thought that it was just a fun, fast, light and surprisingly emotional read.

The characters. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book and I thought that they were all written really well and I also thought that there were just enough characters so I got to know each of them very well by the end of the book and I thought that they all had an impact on the story.
Bianca. I really enjoyed Bianca's character in this book. I thought that she was very relatable and s great characters to have the books POV told from, I loved her snarky personality and I thought that it added a lot more to the book. I really felt for her in her home situation and how she felt like she needed to escape from what was going on in her life. I loved seeing her change throughout the book and how she went from being someone that didn't really believe in love to where, though, she still doesn't believe in love she is open to the possibility of it and that is all thanks to the effect that Wesley had on her.
Wesley. I will admit when I first read his character in this book I really didn't like him, I thought that he was arrogant, self-absorbed and just not a very good person. But then as the book went on and Bianca became closer to him I got to see why he did the things that he did and I really felt for him. I loved seeing how he changed throughout the book and the impact that Bianca had made on his life and how she had helped shape him into a better person by the end of the book.

Overall I immensely enjoyed this book and it is one that I would recommend to anyone and I will definitely be reading some more of Kody Keplinger's work very soon.

Synopsis:

Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally. Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can't. Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he's not doing it. And no one seems to believe him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Because Layne has a few secrets of her own...

Synopsis:

I had very high expectations going into this book after reading and falling in love with the first book in the series "Storm" and hearing from my friends that the second in the series was so much better than the first and I have to say I completely agree with them.

The plot. I really loved the plot of this book. I felt that this book had so much more emotion in it and that is something that I loved about this book. In "Storm" I saw Gabriel as a someone who was really stand-offish but in "Spark" I got to see the reason behind that, his struggle with not being able to be close to his element, trying to protect the people that he cares about and how he struggles with the feelings he has about himself. I also loved being able to see into Layne's life and seeing all the struggles she went through to do with her home life, people at school and also how she saw herself. I loved how as their relationship grew throughout the book they bought out the best in each other. Gabriel managed to bring Layne out of her shell and Layne helped Gabriel start to be more trusting. I thought that this book was very fast paced and one that I found I couldn't put down.

The characters. I thought that all of the characters were written amazingly well, they still felt like they all were individual from each other and I felt myself becoming more invested in the characters with each page that I read.
Gabriel. I really enjoyed his character in this book. I loved seeing how he grew throughout the book and seeing just how much he cared for Layne and how far he would go to protect her and the people she cared about. I also really liked seeing how he started to grow into a better person and started to take responsibility for his actions and I think that has a lot to do with Layne and their relationship.
Layne. I really enjoyed her character in this book also. I thought that she was very relatable and I really felt for her with her home situation, though I thought that she dealt with it very well and I thought that she was a very strong character throughout the book. She didn't let people's opinions of her influence her decisions and I loved seeing how she bought the best out in Gabriel.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I thought that it was a great second book and the best book in the series so far. This is a series that I would recommend to anyone and I cannot wait to pick up the third in the series ASAP.

Review:

I had pretty high expectations going into this book going off my friends recommendations as well as all of the rave reviews this series has gotten on Goodreads. But even with all that I was still wary as to if I would like it, because I have been finding lately that I haven't been able to finish a YA fantasy book, but I decided to pick this one up anyway and give it a go and I absolutely loved it.

The plot. I really enjoyed the plot of this book, I thought that it was a little bit slow to start but once the storyline picked up about half way through I couldn't put this book down. I thought that this book had a great storyline and I thought that it was unique to a lot of other YA books that I had read. I loved the idea of having control over the elements because I had read nothing like it before and it definitely put an interesting twist on the story for me. I also really enjoyed the duel POV because I loved being able to see things from both Becca and Chris's perspectives and seeing how they felt about the things that were happening throughout the book. Once the book started to pick up in the second half I thought that there was a lot of suspense and mystery and definitely a lot of things that I did not expect.

The characters. I thought that all of the characters were written really well. They all had their own personalities and were all unique from each other.
Becca. I really enjoyed Becca's character. I thought that she was very relatable and took everything that she was told throughout the book and everything that happened to her very well. I really felt bad for her in her struggle to figure out her feelings for both Hunter and Chris and also with her struggle to try and keep herself safe with knowing the information that she did.
Chris. I also really enjoyed his character. I loved being able to see inside his head for quite a lot of this book and also see a lot more of his family and the dynamic that there was within their family. I really felt for him in his situation and how he was struggling with his feelings for Becca but how he also wanted to keep her safe.

Overall I thought that this was a really enjoyable book and I thought that it was a great first book in the series and it would be one that I would recommend to anyone who is a fan of YA fantasy books.

At first, he's purely a friend that she can lean on, but as her loneliness grows, so does their relationship. And then one night everything changes...and none of them will ever be the same.

Review:

I didn't really have any set expectations when I went into reading this book just because I had heard such mixed reviews on it. But I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

The plot. Overall I found myself really liking the plot, though I will admit I enjoyed the first half more than the second. I thought that this book was written extremely well, everything flowed nicely and all of the emotion within this book was also portrayed extremely well on the page. I loved seeing how Kiera and Kellan's relationship grew into something more than just friendship and then I found myself hurting for the both of them when it came to their separation and the things that they were putting each other through. And then came the ending, I thought that the ending was a little cliché but I also thought that it was the right way to end the book and I thought that it fit perfectly.

The characters. I thought that all of the characters were written very well and I loved seeing how they were all so different from each other. Though, I will admit Kiera's sister really did annoy me and I thought that there may have been one or two too many side characters.
Kiera. I really enjoyed reading the book from her perspective, I thought that she was relatable and I loved feeling her emotion throughout the book. I really felt for her throughout this book, I felt her happiness when she was with Kellan, her guilt over what she was doing to Denny and then her sadness. I loved seeing how Kellan managed to bring her out of her shell and also how she seemed to change Kellan for the better.
Kellan. I also really enjoyed Kellan's character in this book. I felt horrible for him when it came to Kiera and his separation and even thought the book wasn't showing any of his emotion it was clear from what had happened previously what he was feeling and it really broke my heart. I thought that he in the end bought out the best in Kiera and she bought the best out in him.

Overall I really found myself liking this story. Sure, I thought that it was a bit long but I still really did enjoy the book I felt myself become quite invested in the characters and I will be buying the next two books in the series very soon.

Review:

So I know that I am probably the last person on earth to read this book, but I thought I would add my review to the pile.

I was both excited and also nervous to read this book, just because of all of the amazing things I had heard about John Green himself and also this book. I was really afraid that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. Well this book didn't only live up to my expectations, it completely blew them out of the water.

The plot. I completely fell in love with the plot of this book. It would have to be probably the most depressing book I have ever read, but at the same time it seemed to make me smile. I loved having the perspective of this book told from someone with cancer, I thought that it bought a real genuine quality to the book and really turned it into something special. I thought that this book flowed extremely well and way beautifully written. But really the thing that made this book for me (and I'm guessing a lot of other people) would have to be Augustus.

The characters. I thought that all of the characters were written amazingly in this book. They were all so real and genuine and they really made this book into something special.
Hazel. I really enjoyed Hazel's character. I thought that she was very relatable and she was a very enjoyable character to the POV of the book told from. I thought that she was very strong willed and always did what she wanted and made an impact on a lot of peoples lives within this book. I loved seeing how she grew in her relationship with Augustus and how he helped her to become a better person.
Augustus. I really have no words to describe just how much his character had an impact on me. From the start when he came into the book I knew that he was going to be something special. I thought that he was caring, witty and charismatic and he was so kind and selfless especially when it came to Hazel. Seeing him in the last part of the book really made me sad but till the end I could still see glimpses of his old self and even after he was gone in those last few pages I still got to see some of the old Augustus.

Overall I am completely in love with this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry (which only one other book has been able to do) and it has really made an impact on how I see the world. This is a book that I think everyone should read and I will definitely be purchasing a hardcover to go alongside my paperback, that is how much I love it.

Review:

I had to admit I was a little afraid to start reading "Point of Retreat" purely for the reason that I loved "Slammed" so much, but this book did not disappoint.

The plot. I LOVED the plot of this book! I really enjoyed having the story told from Will's POV because I was always wondering throughout "Slammed" what was going through his head. But now that I have been in Will's head I don't really ever want to leave. I found just like "Slammed" that this book was an emotional roller-coaster from the first page and to be honest I loved every minute of it this book had me laughing out loud, screaming at it and almost crying at points. I really felt for both Will and Layken when they were having relationship trouble and then I really felt for Will when the major event happened about two thirds of the way through. I thought that this book was paced very well and written beautifully, I loved the verse at the start of each chapter and also how the poetry and journal entries went throughout the book. I managed to finish this book in a couple of hours, I couldn't put it down.

The characters. I thought that all of the characters were written extremely well, I loved being able to get more familiar with old characters and getting to know the new ones that popped up throughout the book.
Will. This book has made me love Will even more if that was possible! I loved being able to see all the thoughts he had throughout the book and really I just enjoyed being inside the head of a writer. I loved seeing just how intense his love for Layken is. I loved seeing just how vulnerable Will actually is in this book and being able to see that other side of him. I really felt for him when he was having relationship troubles with Layken and then again when the incident happened. This book also showed just how far Will will go for the people he cares about, which I think just makes him an amazing character.
Layken. I really enjoyed Layken's character in this book also. I really felt for her in this book and everything that happened to her. I could see her struggle throughout the book as she was trying to figure out what was the best solution for her when it came to Will and her relationship. I think that she also handled what happened to her extremely well and it just showed how much of a strong willed person she is.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I will be going to pre-order the next book in about the next minute, I need to het my hands on the next book ASAP. I thought that this was a great second instalment to the series and I loved that it was told from Will's POV.

Review:

I have to admit when I picked up this book I had no idea if I would like it or not, I saw all of the amazing reviews and then finally decided to pick it up. And WOW this book was an emotional roller-coaster from page one.

The plot. I absolutely LOVED the plot of this book. I thought that the plot was really interesting and I was always kept on my toes when it came to the status of Layken and Will's relationship. I really felt for them both, how they had the huge obstacle that was in the way of them being together and them trying to find a way to just be friends. I thought that both the characters home situations really helped to shape them as believable characters and it was sad but also very interesting to see how their situations ultimately brought them closer together. I thought that the book was very well written and it flowed extremely well, I was able to finish it in a matter of a couple of hours, it was unputdownable.

The characters. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book, I thought that they were all extremely well written and they all had their own personalities that shone through in the book.
Layken. I really enjoyed Layken in this book, I thought that she was very relatable and I really felt her pain and confusion when it came to her relationship with Will and how she was trying to find a balance between her feelings for him and their friendship. I also really felt for her when it came to her home situation, I never saw what eventually happened coming and I can't imagine how much of a shock it would have been, but I thought that she handled it very maturely. It was great to see her grow throughout the book and become an even more mature person by the end.
Will. I also enjoyed Will's character. I thought that he was a great person and also someone that was great for Layken. He understood her situation and in the end helped her through it and stuck by her. I really felt for him in this book and especially when he found out that the obstacle that was keeping them apart was to do with him. I felt for him and his home life, I thought that he was mature beyond his years and I just ultimately thought that he was a great character.

Overall I thought that this was an extremely moving and thought-provoking book and I am so glad that I decided to pick up "Point of Retreat" when I got "Slammed" because I need to start reading it ASAP! This is a book that I would tell everyone to read and I think that it is one that everyone needs to rush out and buy.

Dave just may be falling in love with her, but can he see the person she really is? Does Mclean herself know?

Review:

I had really high expectations when I went into this book after seeing all of the rave reviews and just from my experience from reading about ninety percent of all of Sarah Dessen's books, and I am glad to say that this book did not let me down.

The plot. I really enjoyed the plot of this book. I will admit I did think that it was pretty slow to start but about a third of the way through it really picked up and in the end I found that it was a very enjoyable and easy read. I thought that the pacing of the book was great and that there was always something interesting going on whether it was to do with the model of the town or Mclean thinking about her past. I also loved seeing how Mclean and Dave's relationship grew and how Mclean finally decided to let someone into her life. I loved the ending also, sure it was an obvious ending but I still thought that it was the ending that was right for the book.

The characters. I really enjoyed all the characters in this book, sure I was extremely confused when it came to all of the friends characters even when I was at the end of the book. But in saying that I still thought that all of the characters were written extremely well and were all individual and interesting in their own way.
Mclean. I really enjoyed Mclean's character. I thought that she was very relatable and a really great character to have the perspective of the book told from. I loved seeing how she grew throughout the book and started to really feel a connection to the town and the people in it and I think that has a lot to do with her growing relationship with Dave.
Dave. I also really enjoyed his character. From the moment he came into the book I knew he was going to be a character I would like, I thought that he was, funny, witty, caring and just an overall great person. I loved seeing how quirky he was that really enhanced him as a person and he really embraced all of his quirks and didn't hide because of them which was great to see.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I am a little sad that it's only a stand alone book because I would have loved to see what became of Mclean in the future. But overall I thought that this was a very enjoyable book and one that I would tell everyone to read.

Synopsis:

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

Review:

This book has left me speechless. I had sky high expectations going into this book after reading and loving both Deity and Elixir and I was really excited to see what would happen next for Alex, and I am glad to day Jennifer L. Armentrout did not disappoint.

The plot. I loved the plot of this book. Sure, I thought that it was a little bit slow about three quarters of the way through but a apart from that I thought that the plot was very action packed and there were so many unexpected plot twists and things that took me completely by surprise. There were times that I was laughing out loud and also screaming at this book because of the things that were happening. I loved seeing the relationship between Alex and Aiden grow and how their relationship changed into something deeper and how they helped each other through the memories of what happened when Alex was not herself and also face and overcome the challenges for both of them in this book. I completely loved the cliff hanger ending, it gave nothing away about what would happen in the next book and has left me NEEDING to get my hands on the fifth book as soon as I can.

The characters. I love all of the characters within this book and I feel more attached to each of the characters with each book I read.
Alex. I really enjoyed her character in this book. I loved seeing her grow within this book and seeing her overcome the massive things that she had to go through within the book and coming out of all of those challenges for the better. I thought that she matured a lot in this book which was nice to see. Sure, I love the immature Alex also, but I loved seeing the more mature and rational Alex.
Aiden. I also love his character in this book. I really felt for him in this book, especially after reading what he went through in Elixir and seeing how he felt when he saw Alex in the state she was in when she was connected to Seth. I loved seeing how even when Alex was at her worst he still never gave up on her and always believed that she would be able to overcome whatever was put in her way. I thought that Aiden also became a lot stronger in this book and had to take a bigger leadership role within his group and make a lot more hard decisions, and I think he handled it very well.

Overall I am completely in love with this book and I thought that it was a perfect edition to the series. I thought that the book ended on a perfect cliff hanger and I will be pre-ordering the next book as soon as I can.

Review:

I was really looking forward to reading this book. It had a great sounding synopsis as well as great reviews on goodreads. But sadly this book didn't live up to my expectations.

The plot. The plot of this book was nothing like I was expecting, when I originally read the plot it sounded very mysterious and something that I would love, but sadly it wasn't executed in a way that I enjoyed. Sure, I only ended up reading till about half way through, but the storyline was on a path that really did not appeal to me. I thought that the storyline was unrealistic even for a fantasy book and I really just didn't think that the book flowed well.

The characters. I really couldn't connect with any of the characters and I think it was because of the way that they were written. I thought that they were all very one-dimensional and didn't seem very relatable at all.
Emily. For me she was not relatable in either of her personalities. I thought when she was "day time Emily" she ended up coming across as quite needy to me and even the way she spoke I thought didn't match her character. "Night time Emily" was not relatable for me either, I thought that she was too over the top in what she did, and Emily overall with both her personalities was not a character I could relate to or one that I liked.

Overall this book just wasn't for me and it's not one that I would tell you to go rush out and buy, but if I end up finishing this book I will update the review.
